Please leave a review for The Garibaldi
Since the garibaldi has been taken over in the last couple of months, it has improved so much. My husband and I used to come for drinks before it was taken over but stopped due to it going downhill. Now it actually does proper home cooked meals which are lovely and won’t break the bank. The ESB is back on form.
There is now a friendly, family atmosphere. We feel happy to enjoy a Sunday afternoon drink with our children. The feel inside is not so grubby, new lights and a new towel in the woman’s toilets, (ithe old one had been there for years).
There is now entertainment on the weekends and it’s always a good time! As for the new landlords, well you wouldn’t get friendlier!! It’s definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been or stopped going like we did! I recommend the lasagne and my husband an ESB or 2!!

I’ve not been to the Garibaldi in a long time, There are now new owners who have really turned the pub around. It would appear they actually enjoy being landlords and make a great team. The ale was perfect and also a great selection on bar snacks.

The Garibaldi came under new management in April 2010. Derek and his team have a clear aim. For this delightful Victorian “house” to offer everything that a good pub should: first class beers perfectly served, quality food providing good value and good flavours and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for families, couples and singles.
The famous Fullers beers are carefully kept and even the most discerning drinker will find them pleasing. We have been awarded the “Cask Marque” accreditation after an independent inspection and we have been judged to run an excellent cellar. If beer isn’t your drink then we have a wide selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks. Cocktail? Let us know your favourite and we’ll make it for you – even if you have to tell us the recipe!
The Garibaldi’s layout gives it a unique character: it has a central bar off which are many little nooks and crannies, including a conservatory and a games room. And outside is a patio for lazing on a sunny afternoon. So whether you want a quiet drink or to join the bar-side discussions that only take place in pubs you’ll find you are catered for with us.
The pub offers food that is right for the time of day: on weekdays at lunchtime you can enjoy a variety of snack meals – including an all day breakfast that is fast becoming legendary - and Sunday lunchtime means a selection of roasts with all the traditional trimmings. In the evenings (from the end of May) the menu becomes a touch more sophisticated and from the kitchen comes a wide choice of dishes that will persuade you that you never really wanted to cook at home. Derek sources all his ingredients locally – and everything served at the Garibaldi was made on the premises.
Fridays is Karaoke Night – whatever you think of karaoke the Garabaldi’s is different: it’s entertaining. Don’t take our word for it. Some of Hertfordshire’s best karaoke stars are now regulars and as they say “the joint is jumping”.
Every Saturday evening we feature a live music performance and we choose performers who will impress you and make your Saturday Night Out one to remember.
The Garibaldi has been part of the St Albans pub scene for a very long time. Derek and his team are working to make it a place that customers who love real pubs will appreciate and keep returning to.

I've been a semi-regular at The Garibaldi on Albert street for about 6 months. Recently it has changed hands and the new landlord is really breathing new life into the place. The popular Friday night Karaoke and live music at the weekends is still there, but have been joined by a bit of a facelift, absolutely superb (and excellent value!) , locally sourced food and nice little touches like free cheese tasting boards popping up every now and again. Add in friendly staff and top-notch beer and they're on to a winner I reckon.
I know the new landlord has more renovations in the pipeline so before long I'm sure it's going to be one of the most popular back-street pubs in St. Albans.

I have been going to The Garibaldi for about 6 months now and I used to enjoy going there, but now the new landlord has taken over I LOVE going there. It's so friendly and welcoming, the food is wonderful and the renovations are really going to make the place come alive! There's even going to be a big TV screen outside in the beer garden for the summer!! I can't wait to be spending my some of my summer there!
